Transportation Planning Organization

The TPO is the agency responsible for transportation planning in the Ocala/Marion County area.  Comprised of local elected officials from Marion County and the cities of Ocala, Belleview and Dunnellon, the TPO's planning responsibilities include highways and transit as well as bicycling and pedestrian facilities.  The TPO works with the Florida Department of Transportation and local governments to fund and implement projects identified through various plans developed by the TPO.  The TPO is also the policy board for SunTran, the local fixed-route transit system.

Transit Development Plan Update

The TPO is in the process of updating its Transit Development Plan (TDP) and its Transportation Disadvantaged Service Plan (TDSP).  The TDP is a 10-year planning guide in two 5-year phases.  The first five years is a detailed development plan for SunTran, Ocala/Marion County's public fixed route transit system.  The second 5-year phase is a more general vision to assist in planning for growth and capital improvements.  The TDSP is a 5-year guide for the Community Transportation Coordinator, Marion County Senior Services, in their work to serve the economically and physically challenged by providing on-demand, life sustaining transportation.

As part the the TDP/TDSP update, the TPO is conducting interactive public input sessions.  If you have a group that is interested in participating in one of these sessions, please contact Karen Parko at (352) 629-8297 or e-mail the TPO staff.

If you have questions or need information about any transportation project or issue, please contact our office at (352)629-8297 or via email.
