The Engineering Department operates as a team to provide planning, engineering, design, survey, drafting, land management, construction management, coordination and inspection of the city's capital improvements. It recommends to the City Council projects for contract award which includes, major renovations, utilities replacements, annual resurfacing and sidewalk programs and stormwater capital projects. It also processes all construction and consultant payments for projects plus all department operating budget expenses.
The Department administratively manages the capital funds including general capital projects, water and sewer fund, stormwater, and grants for certain projects. In addition, it serves as the main resource to other city departments and citizens regarding the capital improvement program.
