The Building department provides a wide range of services through its four divisions. We incorporate construction regulation, zoning regulation, professional licensing and certifications and codes enforcement.
When planning your construction project please be aware that water, sewer, transportation, education, and fire impact fees may be due at the time of permitting (commercial projects) or prior to certificate of occupancy (residential projects). The impact fees are meant to offset the cost of the City providing the required services for the project. Please refer to the following link, Impact Fee Schedule, for the most curent impact fee rates and contact us if you have any questions.
The City of Ocala Building Department prides itself on being user friendly. We understand that in the construction industry, timing is everything. We have been dedicated to providing timely inspections, providing two inspections a day five days a week. If you call before 8:00 a.m., you will receive an inspection that day. Calls after 8 a.m. will be scheduled the next day. If you are scheduling on E-Trakit, you must schedule before 7:30 a.m. for a same day inspection. We even provide emergency inspections when conditions warrant.
Forget your permit number? No problem. Our dedicated staff of professionals can find the job with either the home owner's name, the property address or the contractor's name. Service is what our department is all about, and we look forward to assisting you in your next construction project.
