CITY GOLF COURSE REOPENS OCT. 21
OCALA, Fla. (Oct. 9, 2009) – The Ocala Golf Club, located off East Silver Springs Boulevard, will reopen for play on Wednesday, Oct. 21, following a six-month renovation.
The renovation was designed to improve overall playing conditions as well as upgrade infrastructure such as irrigation and pump systems. Greens have been rebuilt, some holes were reconfigured and a fourth set of tees were added to accommodate all levels of play.
The project also included the renovation of the clubhouse and a new fleet of golf carts.
Although no opening ceremony is planned, golfers will be presented promotional items to commemorate the occasion.
The course, commonly called “Muni” will open just in time for the Doug Oswald Senior Invitational, which begins Oct. 24.
The contractor for the project was McCurrah Golf Construction, Inc., the architect was Beebe and Associates, and the turf contractor was Valley Crest.
